Operating Manager

I started in the construction business over 20 years ago, and I have been plastering for 18 of those years. I began as a laborer and worked through my apprenticeship to become a journeyman plasterer.

In 1999, I moved to Kerrville to be closer to my parents. When looking for employment I couldn’t find anyone I wanted to work for who met the standards in which I was trained. I started Blackburn Plastering based on my ideals of offering a quality job and best possible service from beginning to end. I’ve found that as long as I adhere to these basic principles, my relationships with my customers are very rewarding.

I believe in being proactive in learning about and training in new products and techniques. I consistently attend and complete continuing education in my field. Because of my experience I’m fortunate to have a greater understanding of the complete building process and that knowledge enables me to work with other trades to deliver a superior job. I care about more than just the stucco.

Over time I’ve grown Blackburn Plastering from a two-man business to a multi-crew operation encompassing stucco, plastering, artistic brick and stone carving. Along the way it’s been a constant challenge to grow and run the business, and to adapt to ever-changing techniques. We value our consistent longevity, performance and long-standing relationships with our customers – every job, every time.

My wife Donna and I are residents of Kerrville, and we have three terrific children aged 22, 17 and 7. We’re blessed to call the Hill Country our home.

I have been involved in the construction industry for over 15 years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to work for and with several of the premier custom home builders here in the Kerrville area.  I can say without reservation that Rick's commitment to excellence and continual efforts to provide new product and service offerings to our customers combine to make Blackburn Plastering an exciting and rewarding place to contribute my time and talents.

In addition to providing office management and administrative support, I am available to assist here in the showroom as you consider alternatives to a number of construction needs - from exterior finishes to interior plastering, artistic brick, tile, and custom counter tops.

When it comes to satisfying our customers, years of experience in the construction industry have served to reinforced my belief in the importance of teamwork and coordination with other trades.  Rick and I realize that it is the people who make the building unique, whether we’re working on a commercial project or a personal home.
